Basalt and Granite Quality Control Training in Qui Nhon
In December 2016, we held the training course for QC team at Qui Nhon quarry and factory for Vietnam Basalt and Granite products.
The course included 3 sections with the main purpose was to give an update in quality standard of Basalt and Granite products as well as to learn from experience.
In the first section, we focused on quality standard of Basalt products. There were some highlight points on each kind of Basalt Product:
- Basalt cobble: even surface, no dent in edges, right dimension especially in thickness of product.
- Basalt Palisade/kerb sawn then hand-splited: even surface, square edges, avoid white marks.
- Basalt Palisade and Step/stair flamed (thermal): select suitable material from quarry, the surface after flamed must be smooth, no white marks or bee holes, avoid dent in edges
- Basalt slab/tile flamed and brushed (thickness 2-3cm): ensure tolerance +/-1mm in thickness, even and smooth surface, square edges without dent.
Following, we had the discussion on quality of Granite products in quarry and factory:
- Yellow (Gold) Granite: classify to 5 levels based on shades (from light to dark) and use each level to different customers follow their requirements.
- Light grey (White) Granite: select material without black/brown marks with diameter bigger than 2cm.
In the end, we reviewed significant cases of product quality which had occurred in the year to find solutions and learn experience from each case. We emphasized the important of learning new knowledge from experience and from each requirement of customers. The team started to bring what they learned into practice promptly.
